What is CareerStart? A website created by teenagers, with the intent of inspiring interest in some of the careers that are in desperate need of attention at the moment. Who made CareerStart? A bunch of Connecticut students from across the state, from New Fairfield to Simsbury to Fairfield. Why did you make CareerStart? Well, the state government asked us to. So we said sure. Why do I care? We're making an attempt to help everyone all around. The state realized that sometimes when adults make websites targeted at teenagers they can be entirely off point. In an attempt to get it right, they asked the all important question, "Who can make a website for teenagers that the teenagers will actually like?" Lucky for everyone, they came to the conclusion that teenagers can make a website that gets across to their fellow peers without entirely sucking. We did our best. We're willing to listen to ideas and criticism. We want you guys to not think of your future and hide in a corner, but use the tools we've created through CareerStart to try and make an informed decision about your future and not just how it will affect you, but how you can affect the future. Why do I need to make an account? Are you just trying to get my information and sell it on the internets? You need an account to save the personality/career test results and what those link to, because as the site gets bigger your results will lead to more information. Plus theres forums, and we can't have the rumored anarchist group Anonymous posting on our forums, now can we? What kind of safe environment would that be fostering? It wouldn't be. We're just looking out for you, man. It's not like we're asking too much of you, it's a minimalist sign up form. As for selling your information on the internets, no no no no no. We hate when the internet is used to take advantage of you as much as you do. Do I have to live in Connecticut to use the site? Well since Geico says we have more money than any other state, we're obviously better than you if you live elsewhere. As long as you accept that, we can move past it. Really though, we're just from Connecticut, we aren't trying to assemble a massive statewide cult of technology students. We don't care where you're from. Enjoy. Any questions we didn't answer, ask in the forums. We'll add anything we are asked or can think of to here as we go. |
